Upgraded software for portable coordinate measuring machines has graphical user interface for training and easier use, and a color-coded scheme for points to be measured
Romer has introduced a PowerINSPECT 4315 software upgrade for portable coordinate measuring machine (CMM) users under warranty or participating in Romer’s software maintenance programme. The new software release delivers ease-of-use enhancements, support for multi-axis On-Machine Verification, and compatibility with the AIMS Metrology System implemented by leading aerospace manufacturers.
Romer’s suite of portable measurement solutions are used worldwide by the automotive, aerospace, heavy machinery, general engineering and manufacturing industries.
PowerINSPECT 4315 (Delcam PLC) has a new graphical user interface to promote ease of use and streamlined inspection training.
It also introduces a color-coded scheme for points to be measured.
This interactive ‘bouncing ball’ method guides the operator through the inspection process and enables the user to easily reproduce an inspection sequence developed by another operator.
The software has been expanded to include a multi-axis option for On-Machine Verification.

CMM designed for shop floor environments
Bring the quality control department right out onto the shop floor by using a small gantry-like CMM that has excellent vibration damping characteristics and dimensional stability
CMMs offer high precision and productivity
CMMs that are precise, reliable, high-productivity, cost-effective systems also offer superior operating flexibility for continuous scanning and point-to-point inspection
Portable CMM arm is very versatile
A the state-of-the-art portable CMM , available in nine different lengths up to 5200mm, is designed for quality inspection, reverse engineering, non contact tube measurement and even laser scanning
Using a Romer portable CMM and PowerINSPECT, manufacturers with 4- to 6-axis machining equipment can perform verification during and after machining of complex parts.
Operators can check undercut regions without having to reposition the workpiece, and inspect deep features with shorter, more accurate probes.
Compatibility with the AIMS metrology systems allows PowerINSPECT to seamlessly share CAD data, inspection plans, and measurement results with other measurement platforms.
The AIMS integration enables users to easily compare data acquisition results obtained with PowerINSPECT with any legacy data collected by older and sometimes out-of-use inspection systems.
Romer customers can obtain the PowerINSPECT upgrade via a free download using an FTP server.
The software is approximately 4MB in size.
Download instructions can be obtained by sending an email to the Romer Technical Support team.
A CD version of the upgrade is also available upon request.
Romer Technical Support is also the primary contact for customers with questions about upgrade eligibility or expired software maintainance agreements.
